Problems from the Oral cavity Oral health 13. 01. 2022 "I have lung cancer. I receive chemotherapy, I have stomatitis and my mouth hurts. I cannot eat." The mouth is the target of oncology therapies, radiotherapy and chemotherapy, while problems can also develop in patients receiving immunotherapy. Toothache, bleeding gums or sore mouth and stomatitis can occur. It was a great honor and pleasure for EKPA Professor Dr. Ourania Nicolatou-Galitis to participate and present the above problems in the Postgraduate Program in Thoracic Oncology, Modern Clinical-Laboratory Approach and Research. The Course analyzes and highlights the modern clinical and laboratory research in Thoracic Oncology, with the main topic of lung cancer. It is organized for the 12th consecutive year by the 3rd Pathology Clinic of the Medical School of EKPA, under the direction of Professor Konstantinos Syrigos. The "Problems from the Oral Cavity" were presented during Supportive Care for Cancer Patients. Supportive care of teeth, gums and periodontium, mucosa and jaws are central to the development of a treatment plan. The interdisciplinary approach and the cooperation of all health professionals was discussed, as well as the need to inform the patients, because we have to eat to survive! I warmly thank the Director of Studies, Professor Petros Bakakos, and the Director of the Clinic, Professor Konstantinos Syrigos, for the invitation and for the exceptional honor and opportunity to present the problems of the oral cavity in cancer patients.
