Webinar: Cancer Prevention Programs

Are you a Health Professional and want to contribute to the prevention of cancer, but also to informing and promoting public health? Register for the free webinar "Cancer: Prevention Programs to Live Better and Longer" on May 20, 2024.

Cancer is one of the most serious public health problems today in the developed countries.

Lifestyle, good nutrition, exercise, avoid smoking and excessive sun exposure, vaccination and protection against viral infections can help prevent a large number of cancers.

Smoking is the cause of about 12% of cancer deaths. Another 10% is due to obesity, poor diet, lack of physical activity and alcohol consumption. Studies have shown that the avoidance of the above cancer risk factors can reduce the risk of recurrence in people with a history of cancer.

In the developing world, 20% of cancers are due to viral infections, such as hepatitis B, hepatitis C and HPV. HPV is associated with approximately 5% of all cancers worldwide and is a major public health problem. Cervical cancer is the most common, while HPV has also been implicated in other cancers of the genital system and head and neck cancer, mainly in men. The World Health Organization has organized a strategy to eliminate cervical cancer by vaccinating boys and girls.
