Lifestyle, good nutrition, exercise, avoid smoking and excessive sun exposure, vaccination and protection against viral infections can help prevent a large number of cancers.Smoking is the cause of about 12% of cancer deaths. Another 10% is due to obesity, poor diet, lack of physical activity and alcohol consumption. Studies have shown that the avoidance of the above cancer risk factors can reduce the risk of recurrence in people with a history of cancer.In the developing world, 20% of cancers are due to viral infections, such as hepatitis B, hepatitis C and HPV. HPV is associated with approximately 5% of all cancers worldwide and is a major public health problem. Cervical cancer is the most common, while HPV has also been implicated in other cancers of the genital system and head and neck cancer, mainly in men. The World Health Organization has organized a strategy to eliminate cervical cancer by vaccinating boys and girls. The Seminar is addressed to all Health Professionals, especially those who care for people with a history of cancer.The aim of the Seminar is to highlight the role of Health Professionals in the prevention of cancer, but also to informing the public and advice to cancer prevention life style, avoiding smoking, reducing alcohol consumption and sun exposure, and get vaccination against HPV so we can live better and longer.Program presentations1.
