The medications which are related to MRONJ are mainly the anti-resorptive agents targeting the bone (BTAs) and less often other biological medications without antiresorptive properties, such as inhibitors of angiogenesis and other mediations. The European Experts highlighted the role of dental and periodontal infection as an important risk factor and the management of dental and periodontal infection during BTA administration was presented as crucial to reduce the risk for ONJ development. Speakers and participating medical scientists from across Europe join forces to treat Osteonecrosis of the Jaws in oncological patients Educational and information programs are needed towards health care professional who work with patients receiving medications related to osteonecrosis. Patient education is also critical to minimize the risk of osteonecrosis. Dentists and oncologists should be educated to “speak” the same language. For example oncologists should understand what is “poor oral health, dental infection, periodontal disease” and dentists should be educated to know what is oncology patient, oncology medications and their toxicity, somatic, psychological, financial ect.
