Webinar: Prevention and early diagnosis of cancer, new therapeutic approaches

The seminar is addressed to health professionals, who are an integral part of the interdisciplinary approach, aiming at the Prevention and Early diagnosis of cancer and the Therapeutic treatment and care of those with a history of cancer. In accordance with the objective, topics of central interest have been selected in the Seminar program, such as:

The early diagnosis of cancer cases, whose origin is located in various places and manifest in the oral cavity, and in particular in the tongue and gums. According to a popular saying: the mouth is the mirror of health.

HPV infection as a cause of cancer and guidance on how to protect ourselves has been chosen as the second presentation of the seminar.

The next presentation concerns new therapeutic approaches and developments in the treatment of cancer, such as combinations of cytotoxic chemotherapy with the specific targeting of monoclonal antibodies (ADCs). These drugs are targeted therapies, designed to increase efficacy and reduce toxicity. Systemic and oral toxicities, however, may limit the benefit of these new therapeutic agents.

Oral toxicities are included in the following discussion, since the mouth is a central target of oncological treatments.

The Seminar concludes with the value of oral health in people with a history of cancer. Today we know that "a clean and healthy mouth can prevent and/or reduce the toxicities of cancer treatments." The talk will refer to people taking bone protection drugs and the prevention of osteonecrosis
